Hot Morning Elixir drink for Winter

Winter is here and we can definitely feel the chill in the air – take wellness into your own hands and start your day with a hot mix of water, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, honey, ginger, turmeric and cayenne pepper.


A potent, refreshing, and spicy remedy great for preventing colds and flus, and for helping to clear the sinuses see recipe and more below:



Ingredients

Juice of 1/2 lemon, 1 teaspoon raw organic honey, 1 ½ tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder or 1 piece of fresh turmeric root – peeled if not organic, 1 piece of ginger – peeled if not organic, a sprinkle of cayenne pepper to suit your taste and 1 ¼ cup of hot water.


Instructions

Add ingredients together and stir, or blend in blender – add the honey and hot water in last. Drink and Enjoy!


Drinking Warm/Hot Water

Can help to promote healing of the body, and decrease radicals when combines with lemon, we should drink water at room temperature or hot to aid in removing toxins from the body. It also promotes healthy digestion and alleviates pain and constipation.


Apple cider vinegar: helps to reduce infection and can help to reduce weight and body fat by encouraging a healthy metabolism.


Lemon juice: drinking lemon juice first thing in the morning gives the body a chance to absorb nutrients and provide an immune system boost. Lemon juice can also help with maintaining a healthy weight, proper digestion and energy levels, and contain vitamin C and potassium.


Honey: is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal which makes it helpful in fighting infection. Turmeric: turmeric is well known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties. It has a very mild flavour, so it’s easy to add to dishes and drinks.


Turmeric: is a bright yellow-orange spice commonly used in curries and sauces. It comes from the turmeric root. The spice is used for its medicinal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.


Cayenne Pepper: can positively affect digestion, relieve joint and nerve pain. It includes vitamin A to reduce inflammation, and can boost metabolism.


Ginger: can be used for relieving digestive problems such as nausea, loss of appetite, motion sickness and pain. The root or underground stem (rhizome) of the ginger plant can be consumed fresh, powdered, dried as a spice, in oil form or as juice.

Each ingredient provides tons of benefits, this elixir is not only great for aiding the immune but it also tastes delicious!
